As this month of March comes to an end, we can reflect on the celebration of

Women’s History Month. What began as just a week of reflection of all the inspiring women that helped shape our past to overcome obstacles, has now expanded to a month-long celebration. This expansion not only reflects on past accomplishments done by women but also current women who are influential today that are not fully shown through our education systems, media, and everyday news.

This month encourages us to look beyond the known women in society and rather recognize all the hard work and effort all women across the world are putting in to break gender boundaries. From young women who dream to work in men dominated fields to women who care for children, to innovators who believe they can do more than what is expected of themselves. As

women keep supporting each other, we will be able to create a place where we are seen for what we bring into society rather than the “expected” women we are meant to become.

Moreover, reflecting the great accomplishments of past women allows us to take this month and use it to impact the next generation of women. There are many individuals along with groups of women who work together to provide education, mentorship, support, leadership, stories etc. to help increase the awareness of Women’s History Month to everyone. Especially those women

who feel that they are being limited because of the circumstances they are in, we try to motivate them to see all the potential opportunities they have in this world.

During this month and throughout the year, we should honor those women who came before us, give recognition to the women who are shaping our present day and inspire the women who will define our future.
