What will the Fall semester look like? Will events be online or in-person?
All events this semester will be hosted via Zoom, typically during club hours (12:40-2:10) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Zoom links for events will be shared on a weekly basis through our weekly newsletter and our social media accounts.
What will the event schedule be like?
All of our events are held during club hours (12:40-2:10) or in the evenings (6-8pm) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We occasionally have events in the evening on Fridays to accommodate the schedules of invited professionals and alumnae.
What days do we hold events?
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Friday evenings
What platform will we host our events from? (Zoom, Google Hangouts, etc)
Zoom
Will there be other limitations during the Fall semester?
We have made all changes necessary to accommodate the distance learning format for this semester. This included changes to how we host events, how we staff our committees, and the requirements to become an inducted member.
How are we handling school-life balance with remote learning?
I think learning how to cope with the new remote learning format is different for everyone, but the best advice I can give is to be disciplined in blocking out specific time for everything, whether it be school, work, or personal time. And don’t forget about the personal time! Having to do everything from home, time tends to become a blur. It’s important to keep time for yourself, away from work and school.
Are there any committees open?
All committee positions are currently open. We won’t begin staffing committees until after our General Interest Meetings, so around the second week of September. I suggest visiting our website to learn more about all of our committees, and attending a General Interest Meeting to learn more about exactly what positions are available.
What can I gain from this experience?
Our main goal within WIB is to grow members both personally and professionally. This is done through events focused on member development, professional events hosted with companies such as Deloitte, Bloomberg, etc., and through opportunities to join committees that offer more hand on experience such as Marketing and Public Relations.
Does WIB allow members to network with women in the finance industry?
WIB offers networking opportunities with companies from multiple industries, including finance, accounting, and computer information systems.
How do I become a committee member?
At the end of our General Interest Meetings, we will share an interest form that asks what committees you are interested in. From there, you will be sent applications from each respective committee VP. After VP’s review applications, they will send out interview invitations for respective positions.
What are the requirements?
Requirements to become an inducted member can be found under the “Membership” tab of our website.
What are the requirements to become a board member?
To run for a VP position, you must be at least a half year inducted member. To run for an E Board position, you must be a full year inducted member.
Where can I be up to date of all WIB events?
The best way to keep up to date with all things WIB is to follow us on Instagram @baruchwib and to subscribe to our newsletter!
How can I get in contact with different members?
On our Instagram, we have posted all of our board members in our “Meet the Board” series, I suggest giving us a follow on our personal instagrams and saying hello! Throughout the semester, you’ll have the opportunity to meet new members at events and at mixers hosted by the board.
