WIB's Member Development Program fosters an environment where members can grow individually, as a team, and as professionals. Member Development (MD) has been a cherished gem within Women in Business. With events targeting personal growth and developing soft skills, MD allows members to realize and activate their potential through activities, workshops, and various discussions. Prospective members must attend one MD workshop per semester. They can choose from a Gallup Strengths Workshop, a discussion on feminism, an alumni panel, and so much more.

WIB's Philanthropy is primarily focused in giving back and making a positive change in society by actively volunteering for the better of our community.

We have participated in the Breast Cancer Walk for the American Cancer Society, the Brain Tumor Walk and the Holy Apostles soup kitchen. All these events have been held on weekends either Saturday or Sunday. Furthermore, WIB dedicates three of its annual events to raising funds for different charities.

WIB's Professional events are conducted to give members substantial exposure to the business world. Types of events vary to provide professional development through resume workshops, networking and panel discussions, where members have the opportunity to meet professionals in various fields and learn about different industries.

Pink and Denim Day is one of the largest, annual fundraisers of the fall semester that raises awareness and proceeds for breast cancer research. We do this by bringing several student organizations together for one huge event with all proceeds going towards the American Cancer Society's: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Last year, the event took place on Thursday, October 15th, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM virtually via Zoom. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Pink and Denim Day raised $4,887 in proceeds. This was accomplished by posting bingo cards on social media, selling masks, and much more! The event educates Baruch students with guest speakers while having a blast at the same time.

Style Your Success is an award winning annual charity fashion show, hosted by the Baruch Chapter of the Collegiate Association of Women in Business. With an audience of 200 Baruch students, faculty, and outside guests, onlookers are delighted with fashions ranging from Business Professional to Day to Night Out, giving them a sense of what attire is appropriate for different business settings.

All proceeds from this event are donated to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life with the hopes of helping researchers find a cure for cancer and provide resources for those suffering with cancer. SYS will be held for its 12th year on February 25, 2021 with a new and innovative spin to it. It has also won best social event two consecutive years in a row during the Bernie’s Annual Ceremony hosted by the Baruch College Undergraduate Student Government.

Resilient, Independent, Strong, Empowered

R.I.S.E. is WIB's large-scale annual fundraiser of the spring semester that raises awareness and proceeds for an organization that empowers women. R.I.S.E. stands for Resilient, Independent, Strong and Empowered. The event is focused on raising money for women based charities. In 2019, the event took place on Thursday, March 9th, from 12:30 to 4:00 pm on the 2nd floor atrium of Baruch’s Vertical Campus, in support of Michelle Obama's charity Let Girls Learn. The event featured a scavenger hunt, raffles and a bake sale of delicious homemade goods.

The Pearls of Wisdom Leadership Conference (POW) is an annually held professional and fundraising event by Women In Business. Pearls of Wisdom is an award-winning event that has been recognized by the Baruch student body as its “Best Professional Event” for four consecutive years. Over 100 professional guests and Baruch students, including men and women, are in attendance each year. This year, Pearls of Wisdom will be held for the fourteenth time. In tradition with previous years, all proceeds raised from the Conference will be donated to a dedicated cause.

The Conference brings together over 20 phenomenal female professionals to engage in compelling conversations with students while sharing their knowledge, experiences, and best career advice. In connecting our undergraduate guests with these powerful, successful, and inspirational female leaders, we hope that students will be empowered by and be able to utilize the guidance, or “pearls of wisdom,” received while embarking on their own journeys toward a professional career and beyond.
